DRAFT & VESSEL
LOCATION: WAUWATOSA, WI
STATUS: DESIGN ONGOING – Expected construction late 2018
CONCEPT: The design of this new building is marked by the hyper-articulation of the primary structural elements. Exposed beams and various framing components lend a rustic modern feel to the spare and suggestively industrial space for this tap room carrying extensive and difficult to find beers.
Furthering this natural aesthetic is the use of A606 weathering steel and cedar butt joint siding, combined with black painted steel detailing, composite panels and black finished window and door units.
Site planning decisions dictated a pair of buildings, the Tap Room and the Bottle Shop, bifurcated by a flush wood boardwalk traversing the length of the site. A Hops Court with pervious pavers greets the arriving customers, while a Beer Grotto with rain feature, river rock and lush planting remains a hidden gem at the rear of the site for hot afternoons or private affairs.
